Two Hot Rats walk into a bar…

Mr. Right and I went to see them Friday night.  The venue was quite the pleasant surprise as it was our first time going to The Academy.

The show was just perfect.

The opening band (Howlin’ Dowlin) had quite a catchy repertoire and I even had the change to chat with the drummer’s wife, a friend of theirs that kept apologizing for her gorgeous accent (Glasgow), and later to the man himself, James the drummer.  Fine folks I say.  I definitely believe that you should check out their sounds.

Here’s them in action…

Howlin Dowlin

Below you can catch the main act sweating it up and making the audience quite the happy crowd they deserved, and longed, to be on such a splendid early Autumn night.

The Hot Rats

The Hot Rats made me smile:

Yes, eyebrows and all.

Formed by Gaz & Dan from Supergrass, their cover session was very much alive and refreshing.  Covers of greats such as The Pistols, The Kinks, Elvis Costello, and The Beasty Boys formed part of the night’s agenda.

What sealed the deal for us all was their encore with a rendition to their former Supergrass.  Lovely & kind.

Both guys were nice, conversational with the crowd and very laid back.  Who could ask for more?
